Project Details
The City of Madison's existing water main infrastructure had reached the end of its useful life, and improvements were necessary to reduce maintenance concerns and ensure consistent service for residents and businesses in a high-traffic area of the community. To minimize surface disruption and allow Highway 34 to remain open during construction, Banner designed a solution that used trenchless methods.
Construction included installing a new water main using horizontal directional drilling and jack and bore installation of a steel casing beneath the railroad crossing. This approach reduced impacts to traffic, nearby properties, and daily community activities while delivering a critical infrastructure upgrade. The improved water main enhances system capacity and reliability, providing long-term benefits to the City of Madison and its residents.
