Project Details

Targeted building envelope improvements addressed water intrusion and corrosion while allowing the DOT to continue operating the maintenance facility during construction. By replacing deteriorated materials and protecting exposed structural elements, the project improved durability, reduced maintenance concerns, and ensured the facility remains functional for years to come. Strategic repair methods helped control costs while minimizing disruption to ongoing DOT operations.

The scope of work included:

  • Replacement of the existing roof system, including a new vapor barrier, insulation, metal roof panels, gutters, and downspouts
  • Removal and replacement of the lower three feet of interior and exterior metal wall panels and insulation that had been damaged by corrosion from road salt exposure
  • Replacement of corroded steel channel along the foundation wall and repair and protective coating of portions of the main structural framing
  • Replacement of all overhead doors and walk doors
  • Resealing of exterior penetrations to improve weather resistance

Selective replacement of only the most heavily deteriorated portions of the wall system helped reduce project costs and allowed the DOT to maintain operations throughout construction.
