Services Provided
Banner has extensive experience with the drainage basin on U.S. Highway 81 between Kingsbury and Brookings counties, and had completed a temporary drawdown and various watershed models of for the DOT. Prior to this project, Banner had completed multiple public information efforts on behalf of the SDDOT and had familiarity with the project stakeholders.
The goals of this project were to:
- Create a hydraulic model of Twin Lakes to provide an elevation for US 81 to avoid future overtopping
- Raise grade of US 81 to avoid future overtopping and temporary road closures
- Replace equalizer pipes under US 81
- Provide erosion protection of roadway inslopes against wave action
- Eliminate snow drifting by use of cable guardrail system
