Fort Sisseton Historic State Park Master Plan

Visitors come from near and far to explore Fort Sisseton Historic State Park, and their numbers grow each year. Tasked with preserving the Park’s history and enhancing experiences for the ever-increasing number of guests, the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks needed a Master Plan. Our Strategic Communications team helped prepare the Master Plan alongside several consultants, providing a comprehensive overview for Park leadership and stakeholders to make informed decisions for the Park now and in the foreseeable future.

Project Details

Banner, working as part of a collaborative team led by Confluence Landscape Architecture, Planning & Urban Design, conducted preliminary environmental evaluations and building structural assessments, and coordinated strategic communication efforts to create the Master Plan document. The Master Plan documents the current status of the State Park, including details on structures, amenities, programs, events, and stakeholder feedback. Next, the Plan provides insight into the need for change based on the goals of the visitors, staff, and other stakeholders. Finally, to provide Park stakeholders with an opportunity to make effective decisions, the concluding section details the Plan itself, complete with illustrations, renderings, funding prospects, timelines, and cost estimates.
